PVA
Water-Soluble Support
Compatibility:
BigRep PVA is a water-soluble support filament, ideal for printing complex, ready-to-use prototypes. It is commonly used in printers with dual-extruders to provide support for objects with overhang or those with complex geometries, for which 3D printing is the only method to produce in one piece.
PVA dissolves easily in warm water, freeing the object from the support structure. It is nontoxic and safe to dissolve into regular sinks or onto the ground outdoors.
PVA at glance:
- Water-soluble synthetic polymer
- Nontoxic
- Odorless
- Extrudes best between 190°C and 200°C
- Optimized for improved melt flow characteristics
- Needs to be dried
- High tensile strength to support heavy prints
PVA is widely used in 3D printing as support material that can then be dissolved. Some complex designs involving many extended overhangs can only be produced by using a support structure. Otherwise, the printed structure would warp or simply collapse.
BigRep PVA support filament is water soluble and the warmer the water, the faster it dissolves, so it provides more time for creating those tortuous prints and demands less time for refining the results.
This advanced filament has been optimized for improved melt flow characteristics, meaning there is no longer cause for concern about clogging of the hot end.
