BigRep strives to give you the best performance at a competitive price, while being an open format machine for material freedom. BigRep Production 3D Printers Other Industrial 3D Printers Up to 1 Cubic Meter Up to 10x print volume compared to standard printers. Print large, complex parts in a single piece. Small Format You're left to connect the pieces of multiple smaller 3D prints when you need large parts. Lower Cost Per Part BigRep 3D printers can deliver industrial quality at a lower cost per part and faster return on investment. Additional Costs Others require higher initial investment plus added costs like mandatory material and software purchases. Open Material Platform All BigRep 3D printers are open, meaning you can print with any compatible material, whether it's BigRep or not. Closed Material Systems Many industrial 3D printers restrict material compatibility to their brand only, adding costs and limiting your options. True Material Freedom Our production 3D printers are designed for high-performance, engineering-grade, and carbon fiber materials. And you use any compatible filament, whether it's from BigRep or not. Large 3D printers are too big to fit on a desk and usually offer a build volume bigger than 500x500x500 mm. Small or large 3D printers can be sorted into two categories: Desktop 3D printers Large-format 3D printers BigRep 3D printers provide a build volume of up to 1005x1005x1005 mm. Which 3D printer has the biggest bed size? With serial production 3D printers the print bed size can be up to 1005x1005 mm like in the BigRep ONE. However, there is no real limit to bed sizes as there are custom made 3D printers like the University of Maine's 100 feet (30,5 m) long printer. Can you 3D print large objects? The size of a 3D printed object depends on the size of the 3D printer. With a BigRep ONE you can 3D print large objects up to 1005x1005x1005 mm, that's 1000 liters or 35 cubic feet. Thanks to dual extrusion, you can print large complex parts. This is becuase a second extruder can be used to print soluble support that can be removed by soaking in water. Without soluble support materials, some geometries would be difficult or impossible to produce. What does an industrial 3D printer do? An industrial 3D printer saves time and money in product development, engineering and manufacturing. What sets an industrial 3D printer apart from an entry level 3D printer is: High reliability Faster 3D printing High repeatability No assembly required Factory service What is 3D printing? How does it work? 3D printing is a process for generating three dimensional objects built up layer by layer. 3D printing is a subset of broader term Additive Manufacturing. A 3D model is converted into a file format the 3D printer understands. This is called slicing, as the slicer software is used to slice the model into prinatble layers, while also determining a wide array of print settings such as layer height, print temperature, infill percentage, etc. In loose terms technology used here is slicing CAD model of part geometry in layers using software and producing one layer at a time. What technology is used in 3D printing? Over the last few years, high-resolution 3D printers have become more affordable, easier to use, and more reliable. As a result, 3D printing technology is now accessible to more businesses, but choosing between the various competing 3D printing solutions can be difficult. Which technology is suitable for your application? What materials and equipment’s are available to get started? How about costs and return on investment? All BigRep 3D printers use fused filament fabrication (FFF), also known as FDM, which is the most widely used type of 3D printing technology. What materials can be used in 3d printing? Plastics are the most widely adopted 3D printed material - and it comes in filament, resin, granule, and powder forms, with filament being the most widely used. Most thermoplastic 3D printing materials can be used in home 3D printing technology, while some high-performance materials require air filtration for user safety. Some popular materials include: Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene (ABS) Acrylonitrile Styrene Acrylate (ASA) Polylactic Acid (PLA) Polyamide (PA) also known as Nylon Thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) What could an industrial 3D printer do for you?
