What is ABS 3D Printing Filament?

ABS is a thermoplastic polymer made from three monomers: acrylonitrile, butadiene, and styrene. This combination makes ABS a durable, lightweight material ideal for parts that are frequently used and/or subject to moderate impact and heat.

Mechanical Properties

A tensile strength of 30 MPa gives it exceptional durability for load-bearing applications, and a flexural strength of 48 MPa resists bending forces.

Thermal Properties

Handles heat quite well with a glass transition temperature of about 110°C, and maintains stability in moderately high temperatures.

Chemical Properties

Resistant to many acids, alkalis, and oils. Dissolves in acetone for post-processing to achieve smooth surfaces.
